OK Boomer.

Let’s not even spend a second talking about how ineffectual is this catchphrase.

But it is.

Just. The. Worst.

It is the lamest, the most yawning, non-arousing attempt to elicit a response since “Whatevs.”

Aw, shit.

Was that a second?

Let’s talk about how for people of a certain age (nudge, nudge, wink, wink) the name Boomer begs us to remember the OG on BSG.

Um, what?

That’s Original Gangster on Battlestar Galactica.

For the Baby Boomers (1944 – 1964), born at the tail end of it, they fondly remember the best of the Star Wars rip-offs, Battlestar Galactica, that aired in 1979.

They also remember that Herbert Jefferson Jr. played a character named Boomer. A well-liked character named Boomer. Not as well-liked as Starbuck, but still.

So go ahead, say “OK Boomer” all you want. It doesn’t elicit the reaction that Gen Z wants. It is a sweet Memberberry that Herbert Jefferson Jr. played a cool Han Solo-ish character named Boomer on a beloved show from their adolescence.

Oh, and in a rare display of business cooperation, we at Aggrovist Apparel are going to give out a free Master design lesson to our t-shirt competition.

You did it wrong.

For those of you that managed to make the connection between “OK Boomer” and the character from BSG, you put the wrong Boomer on your shirts.

You put Grace Park, the Boomer from the 2004 reboot on your shirts.

Why?

Why would you put the Boomer from the 2004 BSG and not the one from the 1970s? You know, the one closer in years to when the Baby Boomers were kicking it in their teens?

Your math was wrong. The correlation you wanted to make is wrong.

You are bad at this.

That is why our OK Boomer shirt is crushing it and yours is crickets.
